On Instagram, I’ve been seeing this tag go around for a few months now. Just this past week, Lindsay from LindsayDoesNails posted that she was going to do it, so I thought I would do it too. I thought this was a good way to turn things around, slowly. Lindsay mentioned the same thing – basically if you see one good thing a day, it can’t be all bad right?
I started this on May 1st, I’ll be posting them in groups of 5.
Day 11 – My Sun & Stars
Kate and I have this whole list of media that we have assigned characters to ourselves from. Recently, Game of Thrones has been a huge one for us. She’s Arya and I’m Daenerys. It’s a thing.
For Kate’s birthday I got her a “Not Today” necklace from a vendor on Etsy and at the same time, I bought a keychain. Just after Kate’s birthday we also went to Barnes & Noble and I ended up taking home a different keychain, the little grapefruit. It was one of those Yummy Breakfast surprise ones; I bought one for my coworker Patti as well, since she really loves breakfast.
It’s nice to change it up once in a while, so it’s nice to look down and see some new additions to my keys.
Day 12 – Semester Countdown
The end of my semester started with one multiple choice final, then a group presentation. After that, I had two super easy take home finals and papers. It was the easiest end of the semester I think I’ve had since high school.
I never thought the group powerpoint about Ancient Egypt would be the hardest part of finals, but it surprisingly was! Not that it was hard, it was just the most annoying part I guess.
Day 13 – Movies with Mom
My mom’s friends don’t really like movies and in the last 5 years, we’ve basically gone and seen every big release together. She really likes all the blockbuster type movies and I typically like to see movies twice so we’ve made it a habit to see movies together.
It’s a nice way to bond, and we always sort of make a day of it. We see the first matinee movie, then go have lunch and do a little shopping. It’s fun 🙂
Day 14 – Blooming Away
Pretty much every day at SF State is dreary. It’s always foggy. It’s always cold. There’s a lot of uneven pavement. The classrooms are never comfortable. The parking is the worst. I mean, I do moderately like the school. But I’m just tolerating it in order to get a degree.
At the end of every academic year though, the sun sort of comes out and things start to bloom. And then one day the entire school is alive. There are hydrangeas everywhere on that campus. There are blossoms all over the sky. It’s sort of amazing. 11 out of 12 months – miserable surroundings. That one month though, is pretty spectacular.
Day 15 – Seeing Stars
Along with the one month of blooming, there’s one month of the year in my area when you can find star fruit in the less major grocery stores in my area.
Molly Stones had star fruit, in a small basket in the middle of their fruit display. It was like everything suddenly became amazing in the last three days of this photo. School ended, flowers everywhere, star fruit.
